While at Duke, Hattie interned at the Community Empowerment Fund in Durham, where she worked directly with people experiencing housing and financial insecurity to find housing, access financial resources, and apply for jobs. Throughout her four years of college, she also volunteered as a mentor and tutor with Duke Citizenship Lab, a program dedicated to supporting school-aged refugees in the Durham community. In her free time, Hattie enjoys travel, listening to music, reading and writing poetry, the outdoors, board games, and spending time with friends and family.
