Nate grew up in different parts of Los Angeles, particularly the San Gabriel Valley, and graduated with a BA in Sociology from California State University, Long Beach.
He has also taught and studied at the graduate level at University of Pittsburgh and the University of California, Irvine, and has labored in many other fields. He is driven to be an advocate through personal/familial experience with carceral violence, and an understanding of how carceral systems reduce the capacity for individual and communal self-determination. Outside of work, Nate enjoys lifting weights, watching genre films, cooking, and engaging in various forms of study.
